Well, I knew it would happen eventually. Today was one of those days I went into work about 7:30am and didn’t leave until after 7pm. My brain is too tired to edit the longer posts I have prepped, and the short post I was going to do today fell through.
(Ironically, I was going to post about a cat who has been at the shelter for a while and the weird headspace where you connect with a long timer but also never know when they might leave…I was going to get a pic of him today, but he’d already gone.)
I need to speed run my evening chores so I can get some sleep tonight. So, we have a post I was joking about last week.
Since we have a shared workspace in my department at the shelter, I can’t really do a “What do I have on my desk?” post. I mean, my coffee, my water bottle (I rotate between them and own too many) and usually a snack. But since I wear scrubs, I can do, “What do I always keep in my pockets?”
Fidgets. Always, always, always. Keeping one or two fidgets on me has greatly improved my daily life, and especially my work stress. I’m partial to a mini bubble wrap style one right now because it’s a convenient size; but my favorites are my fidget cubes.
My phone. Oh, duh, probably should have listed this first! I recently got a Pixel 7 and I’ve been very pleased with it. 🙂
Multiple pens. I am a Pen Person, and I have a much easier time doing piles of paperwork if I have multiple nice/fun pens I can swap between during the day. Luckily, most of my coworkers are also Pen People and we know not to steal from each other no matter how tempting it is. I do not have one, solid, favorite type of pen. I cycle through a few different favorites. I also own entirely too many.
Wireless earbuds. This is a newer one for me. My old phone wouldn’t hold a charge all day with just regular use (and in battery saver mode). I finally had to give up and get a new one, which means now I can listen to books, podcasts, or music while I’m doing the morning and evening cleaning. Right now I am still stuck on that Good Omens Season Two playlist I’ve linked a few times, can’t lie.

(Not pictured.) A cute highlighter. I have super cute animal-shaped highlighters and I usually have one in my pocket, but apparently I did not remember to grab one today.
And there you have it! Fingers crossed tomorrow is a little less hectic at work and I can post something a little more substantive! 🙂
