We’re getting near the end of this year’s Blaugust, and I thought I’d see how I did on the Blaugchievements. I started out motivated to 100% them, then basically forgot they existed for most of the month. (Thank you, ADHD Brain!)
The rain’s coming in where I live, but hopefully nothing falls apart too badly before I get this one out!
Between the one week I actually remembered, and just participating in general, let’s see how I did.
This one I definitely did. I read the introductory post prior to starting out. Because I’m That Person, but also to see what all had changed since last time I attempted a Blaugust. I also referenced back to that initial post a few times since many useful links live there. Good job, Me.
This one is for filling out the sign-up form, Blaugchievement sorted.
This one is unknown. I’m not aware of any individual friend or follower joining up just because I did, but I’ve definitely been talking about it all over so maybe I helped sway someone. š
This one is a solid get. I’ve promoted Blaugust even in years I didn’t participate, but obviously much more so when I am.
Another solid get as I did join the Blaugust Discord. I historically dislike Discord – there’s too many different conversations going on for my brain, and I have trouble prioritizing which ones I actually want to keep tabs on and which ones I can let go. But in the spirit of community, I went ahead and joined. (More on this later.)
Blaugchievement get. I initially thought I’d only share one or two posts in the “Share Your Content” Discord channel, but I’ve actually been good about linking all of them over there. I was partly motivated by seeing how much it helps our conversations about posts when we have them right there to link back to.
This is one that I set out to do on purpose, but I think I would have participated in the “Post Discussion” channel eventually anyway.
I am always happy to pay the pet tax. š I’ve had them all over my blogs posts, including the one I did specifically focusing on Charlie. I just now realized I never posted them in the “Stuff And Things” Discord channel, though! No worries, I rarely have a shortage of pics to share.
I don’t know how helpful I’ve been in the Discord, but I’ve certainly attempted to help answer questions over there!
I have commented on others’ blogs, but not nearly as often as I planned or would have liked to. The more we got into Blaugust, the more I had to really juggle my time to make my posts happen at all. I have been reading other blogs as much as I can, and trying to at least drop a “like,” but my actual written participation hasn’t been at the level I’d hoped.
I was already on the Fediverse prior to Blaugust, but I’ve made sure to post and tag over there during the event as well as following the Blaugust account. I should probably see about joining Gamepad.Club, I just keep forgetting.
This is one that happened naturally. When I saw the posts about old Steam Wishlist items, I was immediately curious to check my own and share what I found. š
Here is one I find debatable for myself. I did not game together with anyone from Blaugust this month. I did not game together with anyone this month. I do not, usually, game together with people at all. I use up my social battery at work, and anything left goes to my partner and streaming.
What I DID do, was make a concerted effort to participate in the Discord despite my previously mentioned dislike of the platform. I like Discord a little better now, and I’m certainly glad I made a point of participating. While I didn’t do this one to the letter, I did commit to the spirit of the challenge.
I’m actually unsure about this one. I know I read the Blaugust Prompt list through a few times, and I think something on there probably prompted some of what I wrote about this month. But I can’t remember a direct, “I saw this prompt and then wrote this post about it.”
I was going to do a “Top 5 electronics I use daily” post (“What piece/s of technology would you have the hardest time living without?”) and I actually have a first draft typed up! Just, then I found other topics I was more interested in talking about and never edited or posted that one.
As is tradition, my first Blaugust post was about Blaugust and is kind of a mishmash of talking about my own experiences, giving a brief overview of what it is, and welcoming new folks.
I did manage an introductory post on here, and that one spiraled out into the series I still need to finish about my job at the animal shelter. It was fun to revisit doing an introductory post on a blog that’s been around for a while, and to see what’s changed about me and my life since the last time I did one.
I set out to do this one on purpose, ran out of time in the month to do it, and then realized that my gushing about Good Omens Season 2 probably counts. I quite definitely shared something I love and what makes me love it…more than once, lol.
My “Gryph is Playing” posts are also about this, as I really only share the games I appreciate and want to share with others.
I don’t think I specifically themed any of my posts about staying motivated. I did do a few check in posts about how my Blaugust was doing that touched on staying motivated, but I don’t think I fully themed a post that way. I was thinking about it for this last week, and then I wound up having other things to talk about.
I already touched on lessons learned a couple times during Blaugust, and per tradition my final post will include this as part of the wrapup.
So…did I Platinum this year? That’s probably in the eye of the beholder. Objectively, not gaming with the group means that’s a No. Which is fine, I knew I wasn’t likely to do that one so I’m not disappointed or surprised.
But do I feel good about what I did achieve? Absolutely. And I also think I covered the spirit of the Blaugchievements even if I didn’t hit them by the letter.
I’m pretty pleased with myself for that. š
Just one day left, folks! Tomorrow will be the wrap up and plans for the future!
