Off-schedule post today, primarily to raise awareness for #SGDQ2015. It’s streaming live at twitch.tv/gamesdonequick, today through August 1st. The schedule is listed on their website and they have some awesome titles planned. They kicked off with a 100% speedrun of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island, a favorite from my childhood and a stunning run to watch. (Forty flutters in one section!) Continue Reading

WHOO-HOOO adjusting to new medication!!!!
Ok, not really woo-hoo. Like last time, if my writing seems off that would be why. It’s also an excellent excuse to throw another PSA out there. Depression, anxiety, and other not fun illnesses/disorders are not anyone’s fault, and sometimes getting help is the best plan.
I say this as someone who hasn’t been in the best financial place, and who has a long history of not listening to her own advice. Still, whether it’s finding a counselor or therapist, looking into medications, or exploring other avenues, it’s worth the effort. Even if the first few things (or many things) don’t seem to work. If your finances are borked, do some investigating to find out where you can get free or low cost help. If you’re insured, see what may be covered even if it means doing some digging.
It sometimes seems like folks assume being miserable is a sign of intelligence or creativity; but seriously, you can be intelligent and creative AND less miserable. They don’t cancel each other out.
On a lighter note, speaking of my new medication… Continue Reading
Just a heads up that starting today, I will be posting links to my off-site content on its own page. A link can be found above, in the site’s header. I’ll add my articles from Holosuite Media as I publish them, as well as any other writing I do separate from this blog. If you’re interested in some of my thoughts on wider geeky topics than I tend to address here, that would be where to find some! 🙂
What a week! Spring and summer are considered, “kitten season” in my neck of the woods, and it shows in more work and more hours. I begin to think that shorter, but more frequent posts may be a better plan than saving my news for one day, when I may wind up not having time to write. Not that I didn’t write at all this week; my new one is up on HolosuiteMedia, check it out for much X-Files geeking and laughing about a younger me attempting fanfic! Other than being super busy, the job is still going well, and I’m still happily naming animals after video game NPC’s.
TSW Anniversary
Other than work, I’ve spent the last couple weeks primarily playing the TSW Anniversary Event I mentioned a bit ago. (Also, Tilty kindly joined us on Beyond the Veil to chat about it.) I thoroughly enjoy world boss events. I love seeing so many people working together, both fighting and making callouts on the #event channel. The fixes the devs implemented this year (lower player caps, less health on the golems) seemed to work well in cutting down on lag, thumbs up there. Continue Reading
Little late in the day to be posting, but in my defense I was working, chasing golems, posting my latest up on Holosuite, and romping with the Otters partway through their stream. Busy day! (I’ll also ask for forgiveness if I sound half asleep, I’m pretty close to it!)
Still, I at least wanted to mention that June first began two weeks of Anniversary event fun over on The Secret World. We’ve got our golem world bosses, we’ve got party packs, we’ve got all-of-the-boosts, and most importantly, we’ve got an amazing community. Continue Reading
