As I get ready for the first day on the new job (Yay! And to be clear, this is a second job. No way am I leaving the humane society.), thought I’d do a quick update here. Continue Reading

What a week! I’d like to apologize for the lack of content – it’s mostly due to two things:
1) I’ve been doing a lot of cleaning when I’m not working. While most people do Spring Cleaning, I sometimes get an overwhelming urge to clean, straighten, and rearrange in the fall. I have 17 grocery bags full of books to donate, if that gives you any idea.
2) My computer has been a bit wonky, most likely Windows 10 bugs since the computer itself is so new. I think I have them squashed for now, but it involved a clean install and all the time and hassle that entails.
I have another piece almost ready (We had an amazing Beyond the Veil show last week, with an NPC suddenly “coming to life” and interacting with us thanks to our awesome dev team), but in the meantime I have links to other projects!
The piece I wrote for the Extra Life gaming community went live last Friday! It’s been a long time since I wrote for someone I didn’t know and who was editing my work. I’m still so pleased to get the chance to write it, and look forward to possibly writing more for them in the future. If you missed my posts on social media, you can find the article at http://community.extra-life.org/articles.html/communitycontent/how-extra-life-helped-me-find-my-voice-r58/.
Jennet, of OtterDown and The Secret World fame, has put together a trailer for Extra Life 2015! She kindly let me in on the fun, and the filming this morning was full of glorious flailing. “Sorry, I fell into a me-sized hole and almost got eaten, what were you saying?”

In other news, it looks like I’ll be hosting this week’s Beyond the Veil show, which should also be a great time.
With luck I’ll have time to get my other post up tomorrow!
It’s going to be a short one today, folks! We had a call-in at work and no one was able to cover the shift, so it was just me and the groomers. The groomers are awesome, and we had a volunteer for part of the day, but I’m still super tired now.
In happier news, an 11 month old black lab I’ve been trying to work with (he’s scared of everything, sits in his cage and shakes) not only came up to me for pets today, but got halfway to sitting in my lap. *melted Gryph* This time, I am going to go ahead and show you what he looks like:
Manufactory
As some of you may know, I got a chance to romp through Manufactory Elite for the first time right after last week’s Beyond the Veil stream. OtterDown otternapped me after kindly waiting until the show was over. The picture at the top of this post is the best one I got, I was too busy trying not to die for most of it. ^^ Continue Reading
Extra Life
As of today, I’m officially on team OtterDown for Extra Life! We’ll be running our 24 hours over in The Secret World, with much romping and flailing. Do still check out my other team, Otterly Gaming, no drama here about the switch. If you don’t know what Extra Life is about, check out the Otterly Extra Life page here on the blog, or my post, “Extra Life 2015 – Why I Play.” That’s also where you can find links to my page and the team pages. There’s still plenty of time to get involved for anyone interested! Related to that…
Gryph on Twitch
Many of you probably don’t know I attempted streaming a couple years back. I super enjoyed it, as tiring as it is at times, but my good ol’ laptop just doesn’t like that kind of pressure. I nearly killed it during Extra Life 2013, which made me reluctant to try again.
Due to a very personal gift my family would like to give me, I may be getting an updated computer in the next couple months. It probably won’t be top end, but it’s bound to be better than a (5? 6? more?) year old laptop. Assuming all goes smoothly, I’ll be trying to get back into streaming. 🙂 I’ll certainly post if and when that happens, in the meantime my channel is http://www.twitch.tv/darkgryphon42.
Chrono Trigger #SGDQ
I haven’t been doing much gaming this week, between my dental issues and then feeling all medicated. I just barely managed a few rounds of Faerie Solitaire last night, if that says anything.
What I have been doing is trying to finish watching the Chrono Trigger run from Summer Games Done Quick. The video for the 100% speedrun lasts about five and a half hours, and is definitely worth a watch if you’re a fan of speedrunning, or even just a fan of the game. Chrono Trigger was one of my favorites growing up, it was a great choice for the final run of the event.
Want to join in on #Blaugust? There’s still time! Visit the Blaugust Initiative page, and then head over to the Nook to get signed up and see what everyone else is up to.
Little late in the day to be posting, but in my defense I was working, chasing golems, posting my latest up on Holosuite, and romping with the Otters partway through their stream. Busy day! (I’ll also ask for forgiveness if I sound half asleep, I’m pretty close to it!)
Still, I at least wanted to mention that June first began two weeks of Anniversary event fun over on The Secret World. We’ve got our golem world bosses, we’ve got party packs, we’ve got all-of-the-boosts, and most importantly, we’ve got an amazing community. Continue Reading
I’ve been pretty busy with offline stuff this week, so this post is going to go out a little late. But one of the things I was busy with today was getting my entry together for the #IAMTSW cosplay contest, and I thought I’d take a moment to talk about why I went with the outfit and picture I did. So, yeah, not going to be much of a post today. Had an “exciting” dental appointment and my brain is mush. To make up for it, I offer otters graciously donated by Tyger. 🙂
Also a quick screenshot of one of the single player games I’ve been playing lately: The Bridge. Nifty little puzzle game where one of the mechanics is tilting the world around you to manipulate yourself and other objects. It’s most likely on the list of things everyone else has already played. ^^ Other than the puzzle parts, I’m liking the black and white hand drawn style and, of course, the way the areas remind me of work by M. C. Escher. There’s an underlying story that I haven’t played enough to really flesh out, but it intrigues me.
And that’s really all I got in me tonight. Cannot haz brain, dental stuff stole all of it!
Hi all, thought I’d give a quick update.
Now that Extra Life is open for 2015, I’ve been able to update the Otterly Gaming page here on the blog with relevant links. Other than occasional posts, I’ll be adding to the page as more plans for the year are made.
After this week, I’m going to settle into posting on Mon/Wed/Fri, leaving the weekends open for the possibility of posting if something comes up that I want to talk about. Continue Reading
EDIT: [As of 8/8/15, I will be joining team OtterDown for this year’s event. Team Otterly Gaming will still be running, by all means check ’em out on the big day! 🙂 ]
Today’s post is partly to announce that both my own page and my team page (Otterly Gaming) for Extra Life 2015 are live. My friends in The Secret World, the “other otters” of team Otterdown, have also opened their 2015 page – I’m fully expecting otterly fabulous hijinks out them as well. 🙂 The big day for the 24 hour marathon is November 7/8, so mark your calendars now. It’s something that’s important to me; I’m sure I’ll be posting about it more than once. I have some fun stories I can tell from the last few years…
Today, though, I want to talk a little about Extra Life and why I’ve participated for the last three years. I’ll warn you that it’s a messy topic for me this year, feel free to jump to the last two paragraphs if you’d like the TL;DR version. Continue Reading
