Welp, not the blog post I was planning on for today. But I did want to apologize that this might be the second week in a row I’m not able to stream.
Return of Life Stuff! We’ve got an incoming tropical storm to prep for and I’m going to be working an extra half day to cover a short shift at work. Depending on the weather I might be able to stream Thursday? My days off this week are kinda gonna be dictated by what the weather decides to do, as well as if we lose power/internet or not. I’m trying to run my errands and such before the rain and wind pick up – of course, so is everyone else. So that’s always fun.
I’m also allergic to tropical storms. Well, not really. But I learned when I moved to a place that sits at sea level and is prone to wild barometric changes, that my sinuses are very sensitive to that sort of thing. They’re already bugging me, and there’s a good chance I’ll be fighting a migraine at some point in the next couple days.
In other news, the Clear the Shelter event went very well at work. They’re probably going to give us the final numbers at the morning meeting tomorrow, but I’m sure we made it past 100. I’m so glad it went so well. Not only for the animals who get to be in their new homes now, but also for the staff. It’s exhausting trying to care for animals when we’re over capacity, and I know it affects everyone.
My mom is going to be flying out to visit in a couple weeks, so that’ll be very nice. We really only see each other once a year now that we’ve moved to different parts of the country. She hasn’t met Charlie or the outside cats yet, or even Lumi! (Last time, I flew out to see her.) She’s also excited to get to see the shelter I work at. She volunteers at one in Texas, where she lives, so she’s curious to see what mine’s like. I brought pictures when I visited, but that’s never the same.
[Also likely not streaming that week, which I feel is understandable. 🙂 ]
I’m digging into that Good Omens 2 themed playlist again, and I want to repeat that it’s a really great playlist even if you don’t care about the show/characters. I’m finding some new-to-me tracks on there I very much like. I caught “Stray Italian Greyhound” by Vienna Tang on the way home from the store today, and I also really noticed “Forever Half Mast” by Lucy Dacus. I know one would think I was always in touch with cool music considering Nash does Radio Dead Air, but I don’t always have the show itself on since that’s too weird when I’m listening to it from the other room already. Anyway, there’s also quite a bit of Queen, Beatles, Hozier, David Bowie – just a lot of very solid, very good music.
(Sidenote: I already loved Hozier’s “From Eden” before realizing the song is A Thing in the Good Omens fandom, but now that it’s been pointed out to me I can’t unhear it.)
I have a very important update to share in World End Diner. Forgive the spoiler, but I learned last night that when you gain enough levels, you can have a cat! And when you feed her fish cookies, she collects your tips for you! I’m, needless to say, in love. And of course I chose a calico cat so I can have a smol Lumi in my game. 🙂
I’m still absolutely loving this game. I respect that the dev considers this to be an Early Access game, but I have put over 47 thoroughly enjoyable hours in and I’m still unlocking new things (not just the kitty, either).
And I think that’s about all the update I can do for now since I’ve still got storm prep to work on, plus just the normal weekly stuff. Here’s hoping it doesn’t hit too hard, and also that I can get back to a more regular schedule again sometime soon.

Hey! I lived in Summerville when I was in 6th grade. My dad was stationed in Charleston. We moved in ‘89 right before Hurricane Hugo hit. Small world 🙂

Oh cool! Yeah, we’re down in Charleston. Nash grew up here, and we moved into his dad’s old house in 2017. (It’s a very old house – like, we’re lucky to own it but it needs a LOT of work.) This house was actually hit during Hugo, a tree went right through the roof. Hopefully nothing that exiting this time!

Oh wow. Yeah for sure, I hope y’all don’t get any damage. I’ve weathered many such storms, mostly near Galveston, TX. Hurricane Katrina and Rita were big. Trop. Storm Allison was major…I need to blog that story! And while living in Florida, we dodged Hurricane Andrew.
Stay safe.

That was a bullet dodged! I’m in SC as well, and lived through Hurricane Hugo, though located a bit more inland. Even inland it was a beast of a storm!

Oh wow, didn’t know you’re in SC – the world keeps getting smaller!
I went to Dubose middle school in Summerville. We move away in ‘89, before Hugo hit, to Florida.

That’s also small world – my mom and my brother’s fam are all near Galveston, TX! More Upper Midwest transplants to the south, lol. And thank you! Nash doesn’t think it should be too bad this time. Since he’s the one who grew up here, I base how much I need to panic on his assessments. Fingers crossed nothing changes, though!

Small indeed! My parents and I are are from Houston, but I grew up moving to coastal areas and the Pacific and Atlantic (Navy kid). Mostly east coast. But then we returned to Houston and Texas for good.
Now I’m away from the ocean, on the edge of the West Texas desert. We welcome tropical storms now in hopes for any extra moisture to come our way.

Stay safe! Us in Flo-town are also bracing for the storm, but looks like you’ll be much closer to the eye. You never know about these things, so I’ve stocked up just in case.
