Today we’re going to do a quick Blaugust check in since we’re about halfway done, as well as some random life updates I haven’t put together into full blog posts yet. It’s also a grab bag because I’m still pretty exhausted – enough so that I canceled my stream for the night.
I am doing my best to have a rest day.
I’m hitting my goal of a full Blaugust this time, but I am starting to struggle with the time. Finding things to write about is no problem, but every brief post wants to be a normal post and every normal post wants to be an essay. Add in editing and finding pics, and the time does fly.
I know I said I was going to be less picky about my posts as an experiment, and I have been! But I legitimately enjoy editing, finding pics and screenshots, making the design of the page appealing, and writing the alt text. Skimping on any of those isn’t really giving myself a present, it’s blocking myself from part of the process I get joy from.

Blaugust has reacquainted me with tumblr, which I have always struggled to remember to use regularly. It still seems excessive to do full blog posts over there when I’m already linking this blog over, but at least it reminded me of The Place Fandom Lives just in time for Good Omens 2.
Because I only have so much time in the day, I’ve put my Tiktok experiment on pause. That’s fine since my streaming is a hobby rather than a career, but it is something I’ll want to get back into at some point. For those who don’t know, I really just use it for clips of my streams and sometimes short animal vids, but the edits are fun to play with.
Blaugust has also put into perspective that I really do have a lot going on. Between my job at the shelter, the pets, the TNR cats, my streaming, my gaming, and then time spent on just normal household chores and errands – I have pretty busy days. In some ways the “Gryph is Playing” posts help me section off some Me Time. I’m still blogging about the new (to me) games I’m playing, but at least I’m getting myself some solo game time.

Umamicart
I recently decided to give Umamicart a try. I’m lucky to live about 15 minutes away from a very nice Asian supermarket, but I wanted to try something new and also save some errands during a week I was pressed for time. I saw it mentioned on social media, I think it was a random comment from John Scalzi’s account, and I’m glad I checked it out. In my part of the country I can really only order the shelf-stable products, but I have been on a HUGE instant ramen kick lately so that works out just fine. The prices for what I wanted were reasonable and it shipped quickly.

New Trap
I still need to do an actual post about TNR one of these days, but right now I just need to share pics of my new trap! It’s the GT606 model that Tomahawk Live Trap worked together with Neighborhood Cats to design, and I’m super excited to have my own now. I’d been borrowing traps from work, which obviously saved me money. But it meant I didn’t have one right on hand when I needed it. I also didn’t like keeping them for too long as we rent those out to the community and there are a LOT of people who need them for feral and community cats. I’ll hopefully have it set up on the porch by the time I post this, and we can start getting Cow Kitty used to the trap being there while I decide how I’m going to go about trapping him without catching any of the already altered kitties.

To The Rescue!
Another new game I might feature on a Gryph is Playing post! One to add to my shelter-themed games list, this one with a focus on dogs rather than cats. It’s been cute so far if a little buggy at times. It hasn’t been nearly as bad as some of the Steam reviews make it out to be, but time will tell. As normal for me, I super like the parts that feel accurate, such as being able to vaccinate incoming pups and hosting education events in town.

You’ve been keeping busy for sure. I feel it. Half-way through Blaugust!
