Next session of Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is up on Youtube! Fireworks, building a stable, and trying to do five different projects at once…

I’ve decided to give myself credit this Blaugust for posting the lightly edited VODs of my livestreams. I feel like that’s fair since I’ve put the effort into streaming the game, doing the edits, and I can write something up while I’m at it.
This session started out with the Summer Jamboree, and then I unlocked the third part of my farm along with a couple new animals. I’m mostly animal care, farming, foraging, and cooking focused on this one, not spending a whole lot of time on relationships at the moment.

Holy crap, it’s New Year’s Eve, how did that happen?! I’ve been fighting a nasty headache all day – go fig – so we’ll see how coherent I am.
It’s been a crazy, wonderful, and tiring year for me. I started this blog New Year’s Day 2015, and soon afterwards I successfully auditioned for Beyond the Veil. I never expected so many people to follow my blog, nor to meet so many new friends and fellow bloggers. I didn’t fully realize I’d be meeting devs from The Secret World and so many amazing people in the TSW community through BTV. For someone who can be rather asocial when it comes to gaming, my gaming social circle exploded this year. 🙂
I managed the best year yet for Extra Life, not only in donations but in pure fun while running with Otterdown and other friends in TSW. Thanks to a computer upgrade, I was able host my own livestream – something I’ve been wanting to get back to for a long time, and not just for Extra Life. The stream is up on Youtube, hopefully soon to be one of many. Continue Reading
Quite a few Blaugust bloggers have jumped on the chance to share what their gaming spaces look like. Soul of the Forest, Cannot Be Tamed, and Floor Tank Gaming to name a few. (I swear I’ve seen more, but now I can’t find them, gah!) It’s a neat idea, and I’ve enjoyed seeing other people’s places. I’m jumping on the bandwagon tonight; incoming pics of my current gaming spaces! Continue Reading
Extra Life
As of today, I’m officially on team OtterDown for Extra Life! We’ll be running our 24 hours over in The Secret World, with much romping and flailing. Do still check out my other team, Otterly Gaming, no drama here about the switch. If you don’t know what Extra Life is about, check out the Otterly Extra Life page here on the blog, or my post, “Extra Life 2015 – Why I Play.” That’s also where you can find links to my page and the team pages. There’s still plenty of time to get involved for anyone interested! Related to that…
Gryph on Twitch
Many of you probably don’t know I attempted streaming a couple years back. I super enjoyed it, as tiring as it is at times, but my good ol’ laptop just doesn’t like that kind of pressure. I nearly killed it during Extra Life 2013, which made me reluctant to try again.
Due to a very personal gift my family would like to give me, I may be getting an updated computer in the next couple months. It probably won’t be top end, but it’s bound to be better than a (5? 6? more?) year old laptop. Assuming all goes smoothly, I’ll be trying to get back into streaming. 🙂 I’ll certainly post if and when that happens, in the meantime my channel is http://www.twitch.tv/darkgryphon42.
Chrono Trigger #SGDQ
I haven’t been doing much gaming this week, between my dental issues and then feeling all medicated. I just barely managed a few rounds of Faerie Solitaire last night, if that says anything.
What I have been doing is trying to finish watching the Chrono Trigger run from Summer Games Done Quick. The video for the 100% speedrun lasts about five and a half hours, and is definitely worth a watch if you’re a fan of speedrunning, or even just a fan of the game. Chrono Trigger was one of my favorites growing up, it was a great choice for the final run of the event.
Want to join in on #Blaugust? There’s still time! Visit the Blaugust Initiative page, and then head over to the Nook to get signed up and see what everyone else is up to.
I love my job. That’s not sarcastic, either – whether I’m playing with kittens or cleaning out kennels, I love every moment. Still, 9 hours at a job that gets very physical is not a lot of fun while trying to beat an infected tooth. My body wanted a whole lot of rest today and is less than pleased I couldn’t oblige. Tired body, tired mind.
This is a good day to take advantage of one of the writing prompts that Belghast has so kindly offered us. I’m grabbing the same one Dallian used:
What is your preferred gaming platform? Are you a multi-platform gamer or do you stick to one platform all the time? What is it about that gaming platform that you like?
Off-schedule post today, primarily to raise awareness for #SGDQ2015. It’s streaming live at twitch.tv/gamesdonequick, today through August 1st. The schedule is listed on their website and they have some awesome titles planned. They kicked off with a 100% speedrun of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island, a favorite from my childhood and a stunning run to watch. (Forty flutters in one section!) Continue Reading
I suppose I could try to blame the Steam Sale for my caving in and getting this game…but, I’d be lying. I planned on picking up Lego Jurassic World almost from the moment I realized it was a thing that exists – while I tried to stay on the fence, seeing that you could play as dinosaurs won me over completely. [Announcement: If anyone missed it, my first article for Holosuite Media is live! Holosuite is the parent company for the Beyond the Veil podcast, and I am super excited to join the team as a staff writer. Article can be found here: Reboots, Remakes, and Sequels – Oh, *Facepalm*. ]
I had a different plan for today’s blog; I’d started writing my thoughts about the Silent Hill franchise and the cancellation of Silent Hills. I had an experience that bothered me while gaming last night, though, so here we are. Continue Reading
For those who don’t know, a friend of mine does an online gaming culture show called MUD2MMO. I don’t always agree with Tyger’s points, as he knows ^^, but it’s a solid show and good at starting conversations. His most recent episode deals with Defining Hardcore and Casual Players, which is something I’ve contemplated myself.
In short, I more often see the labels doing harm than good. Continue Reading
