Next session of Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is up on Youtube! Fireworks, building a stable, and trying to do five different projects at once…

I’m going to do another short post today. I was up Entirely Too Late playing Cat Cafe Manager and rewatching Good Omens Season 2 for the umpteen millionth time, so I need to actually try and manage my time today before my work week starts tomorrow.
Now, before the imaginary member of my audience objects that’s just an every weekend thing for them, it’s NOT for me. I only legit stay up until dawn gaming maybe two or three times a year.

This…might be a short post since coincidentally I’m trying to get Adulting Stuff done so I can stream this game later today. (https://www.twitch.tv/darkgryphon42) But I already have the post written, so we’re going for it!
Cat Cafe Manager is one of the games I picked up in the Whimsy and Wonder: A Cozy Games Collection Humble Bundle. I was looking at the bundle already when a friend mentioned she very much enjoyed some of the games on it. That was just enough of a push despite my already massive game backlog.
Cat Cafe Manager is a cute little building and management type game. Build yourself a cat cafe, decorate it as you like, get new recipes, serve your customers, make some friends…and of course, collect and/or adopt out as many cats as possible!

For “Introduce Yourself” week, I’m going to chat a little bit about my job in animal sheltering.
Small content warning. I’m not going to get into details, but I can’t explain being part of a “No-Kill Community” without mentioning animal euthanasia.
I’m always of two minds when writing about work. On the one hand, most people don’t want to hear about other people’s jobs. On the other hand people who DO want to hear about it REALLY want to hear about it due to shared experiences or curiosity. And since I’m back in the animal welfare sector, it’s a topic not everyone is familiar with.
So, when I say I work at a large, open-intake, private non-profit animal shelter that’s part of a No-Kill community, what do I mean?

I had another couple posts I was working on, but since it’s Day 7 of Blaugust I feel more like doing a look over the past week and how it’s gone for me. Seven points for seven days and some free cat pics!

Taking a break from gaming content to share with you how we wound up with our accidental foster cat, Charlie Chaplin (named by shelter staff). Mostly because the story amuses me, but also because a surprising (maybe unsurprising) number of folks I’m meeting through Blaugust are rather interested in the cats. 🙂
To set the scene, for those who don’t already know, I work at my local animal shelter. I actually have a post half prepped about what I do all day, but the key point here is just that I work there.
Charlie came to my shelter through Animal Control. He’d been picked up as an injured stray cat, and spent some time at a local emergency vet being treated for an abscess on his leg. When he was stabilized, he came to my shelter.
This is where the first amusing bit happens. See, my department does process Citizen Stray intakes – but Animal Control intakes come in through the back of the building. I saw Charlie only briefly, and only because I overheard the vet techs talking about his mustache.
Continue ReadingI’ve decided to give myself credit this Blaugust for posting the lightly edited VODs of my livestreams. I feel like that’s fair since I’ve put the effort into streaming the game, doing the edits, and I can write something up while I’m at it.
This session started out with the Summer Jamboree, and then I unlocked the third part of my farm along with a couple new animals. I’m mostly animal care, farming, foraging, and cooking focused on this one, not spending a whole lot of time on relationships at the moment.

I mentioned in my introduction post that I’ve been branching out to playing more simulators than I used to play, and today’s entry is one of those games.
I absolutely heard all the talk about PowerWash Simulator when it came out – how it’s a surprisingly soothing and compelling game to play, and how folks were surprised by how much they liked it. I also have a huge backlog on my Steam games, and didn’t manage to get to it until just lately.

Normally, the intro post would be made a little sooner than three days in, but I needed to do the Happy Blaugust post first and I absolutely could not wait another moment to babble on about Good Omens Season 2. So here we are!
Hi.
I updated my About page the day before Blaugust started, so it should be relatively accurate, but let’s spend a little time on introductions anyway.
My real name is Sarah (she/her), I turn 40 this year, I’m ADHD (diagnosed as an adult) and part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I enjoy gaming, reading, cooking, various other creative endeavors, livestreaming, and learning new things. I am incredibly passionate about my career in animal welfare and will talk your ear off about TNR initiatives for feral cats if you give me half a chance.

Spoilers ahead, but not before the cut.
Season 2 of Good Omens AFFECTED me. I’ve said it online a few times, but it bears repeating.
The last time I went online specifically looking for how fans were unpacking and speculating about a show, it was around Season 4 of The X-files and tumblr didn’t exist yet. I was also a young teenager, just to make sure I feel appropriately old now, 27 years later.
Season 2 affected me enough that I’m writing this up on July 31st despite knowing that my first post for Blaugust will be the traditional “Hey, I’m doing Blaugust!” post, and the next one really ought to be some form of introduction. It probably only took this long because I work 10+ hr shifts Friday-Monday so I wasn’t able to give myself the time until now, after work on Monday.
This season of this show affected me to the degree that I started listening to the character music playlists they put up. I put on Season 1 when I’m not watching Season 2. I put on the audiobook for the millionth time. I’m searching to find podcasts covering this season, and posts online discussing it. It affected me to the degree that I’m pretty sure I literally dreamed that the [redacted] situation was all cleared up the night after I watched it, because apparently my brain just deeply needed more closure.
Friends and neighbors, I don’t get like this about shows. And yet, here we are.
I expected I’d enjoy this season. I did not expect to be smoted by smitten with this season. Add me to the list of people having “unexpected feelings” after this one.
